The only risk is wanting to stay.

It was such a strange feeling. Really strange.

I like to party. That's not a secret. And we were just hours away from our flight to the BIGGEST party in the world: CARNAVAL!!!! But why on earth am I not HYPE? I was actually sad. We both were. Freakin' weird. Hella packing sadly and slowly. We couldn't get pumped up for party of the year. What's happening here? But that's what Colombia can do to you - 7 weeks in the making. It doesn't make sense to me why you wouldn't want to come visit this beautiful country. And now it makes even less sense to me why you would ever want to leave. The commercials weren't lying when they said:

"Colombia, the only risk is wanting to stay."

Goodbye Medellín and farewell to Colombia......hasta la proxima vez.

SUPERBOWL Sunday
We watched (tried to watch - beauty distractions) the game at a sports bar in the Zona Rosa. We're in Latin America where raising both arms to celebrate a TD is not good enough. This Colombian Steelers fan not only stood up and raised his arms, but he added a merengue hip shake to go along with it. Fitzgerald is a BEAST.

La Unidad Deportiva de Belen
This is a dope spot for all kinds of sports and is well lit at night. They got volleyball, tennis courts, a track, and even a snack bar.

We played some casual 4 on 4 half court with the Medellin couchsurfing crew. It was Gringos (Canada, 3 U.S.A.) vs. the locals. Us Gringos handled the biz even with the international trapezoid key. It definitely felt good to shoot some hoops.

The Hill of 3 crosses.

Wayne from Seattle is another couchsurfer who took us for a hike to capture a view of the entire city. We were so high up that it seemed like there was absolutely nothing going on in the city. Wayne moved here about a year ago. It's not a secret why. Take the risk and see what happens.

This is the view from his apartment. We could see the hill that we hiked up from here along with the rest of the awesome view. Rent = $500.00 USD/month.

Dream balcony for Hoagies.

BACK to SCHOOL

Learning Spanish through song lyrics.

The Tiger Paw Hostel
What a coincidence. Everyone in our dorm was from San Francisco including a dude that worked at the same place Jeff did. I had to listed to software nerd talks for a bit. zzzzzzzz

Here's two of them: Zack and Brandon from SF

Casual lining up for the bus.

Mall Massages. This is good business for those husbands that have to wait for their wives to shop. We just did it for fun cuz it was cheap. Twice.

Shoutout!

Happy boy from getting his sleeves altered up.

GOOOOOOOOL! Casual snack around the corner from the Hostel. Hella good deal: 2 slices of pizza and a soda for about $1.60 USD.

Free live funk-soul music. They're not really about bobbing their heads here. I was for sure.

Parque Lleras: Nightlife headquarters
I love how you can just chill on the steps with your drink in hand.

We also couchsurfed with Jules for our final week. She's hella chill. We had our own room again. She worked in the mornings and came home at noon too see that we were still passed out. The best part is when muzz takes a dook and then Jules has to use the bathroom right after. GUILT!
You can get almost anything delivered to your house in Medellin. But I was like "WHUT?!?" when I found out that Jules ordered a washer for delivery. They pulled it up the stairs and set it up in her patio area. She was actually just renting it out for the day. Then they picked it up later in the afternoon. Hella casual.

Sushi night at the crib with Jules & co.

After eating our final meal at Crepes & Waffles, German (couchsurfing baller) offered to drop us off at the airport which was like an hour away. Hookin' it up for reals. He picked up the lunch tab too. BALLER. But OOOF. When we got to the parking lot, he couldn't remember where he parked his green Nissan Sentra. I swear we looked around the entire lot for like 45 minutes with our backpacks on. And we were the ones who ended up finding his car. But it was a dark grey drive and it started to rain harder as we got closer to the airport. Was this an omen? Were we not supposed to leave?

I have this other strange feeling that I'll be back just like Backstreet.
